Waiver and Code of Conduct

Participant Release and Waiver of Liability

I choose to participate or allow my family, heirs, or assigns to participate in classes, camps, competitions, performances, and other activities at Northwest Aerials, Inc. (NWA) of my own free will. I certify that I am/they are in proper physical condition to take part in such activities. If I have questions about whether an activity is suitable for me or my family members to pursue, I will consult my health care provider in making that decision. If I have any known physical vulnerabilities, conditions, or injuries, I agree to discuss them with a Manager before participating.

I understand that there are risks of physical injury associated with, arising out of, and inherent to gymnastics, ninja, trampoline, swimming, and dance. These risks include the potential for slips and falls, sprains, strains, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal injuries, podiatric conditions, and other risks not specified here. I also acknowledge that participation includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including, but not limited to, MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist. Understanding these risks and the potential for others not listed, I agree to personally accept and assume all of the risks present in my/my family’s participation at NWA. My/my family’s participation at NWA is entirely voluntary, and I choose to participate in spite of the risks. Gymnastics, ninja, trampoline, swimming, and dance education sometimes require hands-on instruction as well as verbal instruction. Instructors may correct athletes by touching their arms, legs, feet, hips, back and head to move them in the correct position. I acknowledge that this is a common standard in the activities of NWA and understand that it is my responsibility to communicate clearly with my teacher and/or a Manager if any form of touch is unacceptable to me.

Medical Treatment and Insurance

I understand that NWA does not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide financial or other assistance in the event of injury or illness, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability insurance or support. I authorize NWA to obtain necessary medical or dental treatment, including first aid, ambulance transport, hospitalization, or such other care necessary for my health and welfare in an emergency if an emergency contact cannot be reached immediately. If my insurance does not cover emergency treatment that is deemed necessary and sought for me by NWA, I agree to be responsible for and pay all costs incurred on my behalf. I release and discharge NWA from any claim which may arise on account of any first aid, treatment, or service rendered in connection with my participation in NWA activities or with the decision by any representative or agent of NWA to consent to medical or dental treatment on my behalf in an emergency. I understand that NWA  carries secondary health insurance and no dental, or disability insurance coverage for any participant. I agree to take responsibility for full payment of any emergency medical or dental costs related to my NWA participation, regardless of whether I have insurance coverage.

Photographic Release

I understand that NWA may take photos and video recordings of participants during NWA classes and activities. I convey to NWA full rights and interest in these recordings. I understand such recordings may be used in advertising or other published materials, physical or virtual, but no names will be published. I will hold NWA harmless if a photo or video recording of me is released.

While a participant at NWA, I agree to abide by any rules, codes, and policies that are put in place by NWA before or at any time during my participation. If I have questions or concerns regarding any policies or decisions made by any representative of NWA, I agree to bring them promptly and specifically to a Manager’s attention. If I file a lawsuit against NWA, I agree to do so solely in the state of Washington and agree that the substantive law of Washington shall apply in that action without regard to the conflict of law rules of that state. I agree that if any portion of this agreement is found to be void or unenforceable, the remaining document shall remain in full force and effect.

Participant Release

By signing this document, I release Northwest Aerials, Inc. and its directors, owners, managers, students, teachers, staff, employees, volunteers, associates (collectively referred to in this document as “NWA”) from any liability or claim that I or my representatives may have against NWA with respect to any bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property loss or damage that may result from my participation at NWA. I voluntarily release and forever discharge and hold harmless NWA from any and all claims or demands for damages, loss of services, costs and expenses, injuries, attorney fees, and any other call for reparation from any and all injury to me or my property arising in any way from my participation in dance classes, camps, intensives, workshops, performances, troupes, the use of NWA equipment or facilities, and any activities associated with NWA.

Guardian Release

I hereby approve of the participation of my family members and myself in class activities, team workouts, competitions, or other events organized by Northwest Aerials, Inc. I understand that, like all physical activities, participation in gymnastics, ninja, trampoline, dance, swimming, and fitness carries with it a reasonable degree of risk that neither Northwest Aerials, Inc. nor its officers, directors, operators, agents, or instructors may be held liable in any way for any occurrence or connection with anyone’s participation in any of the aforementioned activities, which may result in serious injury or other damages to myself, my family members, heirs, or assigns. In consideration of being allowed to participate in such programs, I further personally assume all risks, whether present or future and whether foreseen or unforeseen, and hold harmless said corporation and its affiliates from any claim by myself, family members, estate, heirs, or assigns arising out of such participation. I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and Northwest Aerials, Inc. I have signed this of my own free will and agree to abide by all rules of enrollment.

Policies and Code of Conduct

  • Arrive 5 minutes early, allowing students from previous classes to depart the facility while giving yourself time to change, use the restroom, get water, and focus yourself for class before class begins. Wait in the upstairs seating area to begin class, unless instructed to begin elsewhere by a Manager or Instructor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a drop-off system will be in place to limit contact between parents/guardians and the NWA staff. Students may be asked to wait in their cars until the scheduled start time of the program for which they are registered.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, students are required to wash their hands and sanitize their belongings before entering and exiting the building. Students have the option of wearing masks.

  • Respect your Instructors. Listen actively and attentively in class. Keep your eyes on the Instructor when they are demonstrating or speaking, and please do not speak while they are giving directions. Show that you are engaged by standing tall and refraining from fidgeting during class.

  • Only the teacher and their officially appointed assistant(s) may correct an athlete. It is not appropriate for students to correct other students or for parents/guardians to correct students during the class.

  • Bring a positive attitude to class! Accept corrections as helpful feedback that will improve your skills. Show your appreciation by working hard and doing your best. And have fun! The activities you will take part in at NWA are a great way to learn and grow both physically and mentally.

  • All clothing must fit properly. Athletes are welcome to dress according to the gender they identify with. Hair must be securely pulled back so it does not impair vision and/or get tangled in equipment; as it is inappropriate and distracting to adjust hair and clothing during class. Jewelry should not be worn.

  • We recommend that gymnasts wear leotards or shorts (no buckles or zippers) with a r-shirt. Athletes may be barefoot, in socks, or wearing gymnastics/ballet shoes unless instructed to wear more sturdy shoes by a Manager or Instructor. Ninja students should wear athletic shoes with laces or velcro to keep them securely on athletes’ feet.

  • Pack a water bottle! Water helps regulate your body temperature, lubricate your joints, and so much more. Staying hydrated is a must for any physical activity.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, staff and spectators are required to wear masks. Athletes have the option of wearing masks.

In our space

  • Clean up after yourself and encourage others to do the same. Please observe recycling/trash/compost signs and put your waste in the proper container every time. Always aim to leave the facility looking better than you found it.

  • Only water is allowed in the gyms. Food and beverages are allowed in the upstairs seating area and the party room off the lobby.

  • Parents are invited to observe classes but must remain in the lobby and upstairs viewing area. Children not in classes must remain in the viewing area. Due to social distancing measures in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that observation be kept to a minimum. If you wish to observe your child’s class, please email us at least 48 hours prior to the class as there is a limited number of seats available to due to the distancing regulations. We will allow a maximum of one parent/guardian per child to enter the facility.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, anyone who wishes to enter the building may receive a temperature check and will be expected to refrain from entering should they have a high temperature or otherwise feel ill. Students and staff with a high temperature or other symptoms of illness (as defined by the CDC) will be sent home.

  • All items left at the gym are placed in the lost and found bucket. Items left, lost or stolen are not the responsibility of Northwest Aerials.  Lost & Found items are donated to charity the first week of each month.

  • In accordance with USA Gymnastics guidelines, parent or caregivers of all students under 4 years of age must remain in the building during class time in case bathroom or out of class care is needed.

  • Due to insurance regulations and everyone's safety, adults and children not in class are NEVER allowed in the gym area or on any equipment.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, the flow of students, parents, and staff throughout the building is regulated to minimize face-to-face interactions; ALL doors are one-direction-only.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, parts of our facility are closed or off-limits:

    • Drinking fountains are closed. Students are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle with them to the gym.

    • The multi-stall bathroom is closed. Students will have access to one of five single-user bathrooms.

    • Foam pits are covered by mats with wipeable surfaces.

    • The Party Room may only be used by one person at a time due to the limited entry/exit points.

    • The Preschool Room is temporarily closed in favor of using our spaces that have more room for students to spread out. As the situation evolves, we will reassess this decision.

    • Cubbies are off limits — students will leave items in their designated zone within the viewing area.

Inclusivity, Anti-Discrimination, and No-Tolerance for Bullying

  • Always be your best self at NWA. Exercise kindness, generosity, and honor. Lift up the spirits of those around you. Support and cheer on your classmates. Speak kindly of others always – to their face and behind their back. Practice empathy. Give others the benefit of the doubt. You may not know the whole story. Show leadership for younger and less experienced athletes. Include and engage people outside your age, level, and comfort zone.

  • We welcome athletes of all genders. We encourage athletes of all abilities to give our classes a try. We do our best to accommodate each athlete’s unique needs within the limits of our resources, facility features, staff expertise, student:teacher ratio, and other factors. We work with students as individuals and encourage each athlete’s own skill development and growth. If your or your child’s needs are unique, please talk with a Manager before registering to determine whether a particular class will be appropriate, and, if necessary, what accommodations are possible. Parent/aid assistance may be required to maintain student safety.

  • We are strongly committed to making gymnastics, ninja, trampoline, swimming, and dance opportunities available to all students. Speak with a Manager if you require the establishment of a payment plan.

  • All members of the NWA community have the right to feel safe and protected from bullying and discrimination. If you or your child are being bullied or discriminated against in any way, please alert an Instructor or a Manager as soon as possible. Each situation is unique and will be treated with urgency, proactivity, and sensitivity by the director and staff.

  • Bullying and discrimination physically or emotionally harm a person, targets a person in a negative way for any actual or perceived characteristic, and/or creates a hostile environment in the gym. Bullying will not be tolerated in any form – direct or indirect, physical, emotional, social, verbal, written, electronic, or otherwise. We recognize that bullying does not just occur between students. Anyone witnessed bullying or harassing another student, parent, or NWA staff member will be sanctioned.
